Understanding Attitudes, Motivations, and Barriers to HPV Vaccination in Zimbabwe

Mar 17, 2025 | Uncategorized

Excited to have presented our research findings today at #EUROGIN2025 in Porto, Portugal! Thrilled to share groundbreaking findings from our HPV vaccination research in Zimbabwe, generously funded by the Merck Investigator Studies Program!

Our team conducted comprehensive mixed-methods research exploring the complex factors influencing vaccine uptake among communities. The invaluable support from our research partners at Mutala enabled both robust quantitative analysis and insightful qualitative exploration.

Immense gratitude to our collaborative partners who made this work possible:
• Zimbabwe Ministry of Health and Child Care
• Zimbabwe Ministry of Education
• Community advisory board members
• Local community leaders
• Traditional and religious authorities

Their involvement was instrumental in developing culturally appropriate messaging strategies to improve vaccination rates across the country.

Special thanks to mentors Dr. Dan Montano and Dr. Danka Kasprzyk, whose expertise with the Integrated Behavioral Model (IBM) provided the critical theoretical foundation for our social and behavioral research design.

Proud to contribute meaningful research that can hopefully impact public health policies and protect future generations from HPV-related diseases. Together, we can make progress toward healthier communities! 💪
